A quick death
Or slow poison...

Yelena has a choice – be executed for murder, or become food taster to the Commander of Ixia. She leaps at the chance for survival, but her relief may be short-lived.

Life in the palace is full of hazards and secrets. Wily and smart, Yelena must learn to identify poisons before they kill her, recognise whom she can trust and how to spy on those she can’t. And who is the mysterious Southern sorceress who can reach into her head?

When Yelena realises she has extraordinary powers of her own, she faces a whole new problem, for using magic in Ixia is punishable by death...
Poison Study is one of the best YA book I've ever read. This is awesome.

First of all, I love Yelena because she's like Katniss. She's strong and brave. Yelena is only one of the great characters in this book. There is Valek, who can fight 3 people even if he's drunk, Valek who killed many people. Valek is a great character because he's strong person but you can see his soft side. Ari and Janco are my favorite secondary characters. They are the one who teach Yelena how to become strong. Snyder is awesome to make this kind of characters. Oh, I hate Margg, by the way.

The story is unique, great and well-made. Full of secrets, revelations and twists. The book is addicting, if you started to read the book, it's hard to stop. The story of commander is really unique for me. I must say this book is really great.

Overall, this book is really awesome. My actual rating is 4.5, but I rounded it off and gave it 5/5 instead, hahaha. You should read this book!

Favorite Quotes:
“Everyone makes choices in life. Some bad, some good. It's called living, and if you want to bow out, then go right ahead. But don't do it halfway. Don't linger in whiner's limbo.”
“Sieges weathered, fight together, friends forever.”
“Trusting is hard. Knowing who to trust, even harder,”

  3. I've never heard of this series but I know Maria Snyder is awesome! I'm glad you liked it. I love addicting books and it sounds pretty awesome. For some reason the synopsis reminds of Game of Thrones. But maybe that's because I just watched an episode, lol :) It's definitely going on my TBR pile! Great review!
