“Hello, Katriona.”
Those two words spark fear in Katriona Wilde and give way to an unlikely partnership with Perth, the man she’s been traded to marry for a favor. Saving her true love and protector Arland, her family, and their soldiers keeps her motivated, but the at-odds duo soon realizes trust is something that comes and goes with each breath of Encardia’s rotting, stagnant air. The moment when concern for her missing sister spirals out of control, all thoughts of trust are pushed aside and she finds herself trapped by the daemon tricks Perth warned her of.
However, rescuing those she loves is only half the problem.
Kate still must get to Willow Falls, unite her clashing people, and form an army prepared to fight in order to defeat Darkness. When so many she’s grown fond of die along the journey, her ability to play by the gods’ rules is tested.
How will she make allies when the world appears stacked against her? And will she still be Katriona Wilde, the girl with fire?
This is better than the first book and the characters became stronger. More action and magic and great story. I really enjoyed reading this book. :D
The characters became stronger, especially Kate. She has the confidence now to control her magic, and she became more powerful. I really liked about her is her magic, her magic is so powerful that can kill hundreds of daemons. She didn't give up on protecting her family and her love. I really admire her when they were fighting with hundreds of daemons, and she was heavily wounded, but still she protects all the soldiers and children. I really admire her for doing that thing. But still there were some moments that she annoyed me.
Arland became stronger, but became a little weak also. Weak because he blames himself when something bad happens to Kate. Still, he became stronger character. He was willing to fight anything for Encardia, for children, for his family and especially for his love. He was willing to put a distance between him and Kate just for the safety of Kate. I admire him for doing that thing.
It was sad when Flanna became sad. In the first book, she was the one who put color and fun in the novel, but here she became sad and lonely.I understand her feeling, and it's really hard when someone important to you died. Oh, Brit! I really loved Brit, and I'm really happy that she already knew her prophecy. :D
Still, the world was really awesome and interesting. I really loved the sprites, they always amaze me. Sprites and daemons were great idea. The different colors of flames that shows how powerful the person is was awesome and that was my favorite part.
Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book. I'm really happy that the characters became stronger and I had a connection with them. The ending wasa supercliffhanger. I can't wait to read the nextbook, and I want to know what will happen to Kate and Arland and the company. I want to know what will happen to that Dughbal. I'm really excited to read the next book! :D
The cover is really beautiful. I like the army in the background and Kate and Arland in front. Kate and Arland were like instructing and leading the army.

Oh! Look at that awesome cover! I really love the colors and the eye is awesome, haha! And the "They want to find me I will find them first" is really interesting. Sadly, the cover of this book doesn't match the cover of my Shatter Me. :|
Shatter Me German Edition (left) and Carrier of the Mark (right)
The cover of Shatter Me looks very exactly the cover of Carrier of the Mark. I really lovedboth covers. I liked the blue color and the 'smoky' effect. I don't know what you call that thing at the bottom. XD

“There is no pain in this death, only peace, knowing I am going to die with the one I love the most.”—Katriona Wilde.
Katriona
Wilde has never wondered what it would feel like to have everything
she’s ever known and loved ripped away, but she is about to find out.
When she inadvertently leads her sister and best friend through a portal
into a world she’s dreamed of for six years, she finds herself faced
with more than just the frightening creatures in front of her.
Kate’s

closest to her have betrayed her. What’s worse, she has no control over
her new future, and it’s full of magic and horrors from which
nightmares are made.
Will Kate discover and learn to control who she really is in time to save the ones she loves, or will all be lost?

Oh, portals. When I read the portal thingy in the synopsis, I already expect too much. Unfortunately, this book didn't reach my expectations. I know it's not good to have expectations, but I can't stop myself from expecting too much from this book. I've heard many good things about this one and I really loved reading fantasy novels. I wished the book was better.
First of all, characters. Kate was half annoying and half awesome. Annoying because it doesn't matter to her if she was sharing a bed with a boy. First impression about that is that Kate is a whore. Lol. It's okay to share a bed with a boy, but when she invited Arland to take a bath together, oh gahd. Awesome because of the magic she possessed. And because she was willing to do anything for Arland and to protect the Encardia. She was really amazing when she had a fight with hundreds of daemons. Hands up for her for protecting her world and Arland.
Arland was a good character. He was willing to do anything to protect his world and his people, like Kate. His strong leadership and his love for his world and peoples was really admirable. I wish all the leaders here in our world is as good as Arland.
Secondary characters were awesome except for Brad. I really loved Flanna, Cadman, Anna, Marcus and Brit. For me, the novel will be boring if they were not here. I think Flanna was my most favorite characters. Ahaha!
The world that the author created was interesting. Sprites and daemons were really great. I liked the idea of Kate and Arland glowing with different colors of fire to show how strong they were. It's one thing that I liked in this novel. The story was wonderful and interesting, but it moved so slow.
Overall, I liked the book. Great story, but not so good characters. Interesting world and ideas. I hated and loved this book at the same time. There were moments that I'm annoyed and moments that I really enjoyed. Fantasy and romance fans, you should check this out.

Twins Sera and Luke
Raine have a well-kept secret—she heals with a touch of her hand, he
sees the future. All their lives they’ve helped those in need on the
sly. They’ve always thought of their abilities as being a gift.
Then
Luke has a vision that Sera is killed. That gift they’ve always
cherished begins to feel an awful lot like a curse. Because the thing
about Luke’s ability? He’s always right. And he can’t do anything about
it.
****
When I read the synopsis of this book, I know that it will be awesome. And after I read the book, it's really awesome. This is my first time to read a book where elves and vampires are in one book. The world that J. Meyers created was really unique and amazing.
Luke and Sera are really awesome characters. Sera is a healer and Luke is a Seer. Luke is an incredible character. He's really determined to protect his sister from dangers. Sera is an incredible character, too. She wants to protect her family, especially her brother. But sometimes Sera is kind of annoying when it comes to Marc. When Luke and Sera were together, no one can beat their connection to each other. Their love for each other. While I'm reading this, I always thought what if I had a twin? Would we get along as Sera and Luke do? It's really sad to be only child. XD
Secondary characters are really awesome, too. Jonas and Fey are the protectors of the twin. She's one of Sera and Luke's closest friend. Fey always protect the twin since they are born. And Jonas is an unexpected ally. I thought that Jonas was the main villain in the story, but he's not. He's willing to do anything just to protect Sera and Luke. I want to have a friend like Fey and Jonas. How I wish I can find someone like them.
The world, the writing, and the story are really amazing. A world with gifted children, vampires, elves, faeries and goblins is really awesome. What can you ask more? The book is in third person, but I think it will be great if the POV will focus on Sera and Luke or have the POV of Luke and Sera like Across the Universe. Oh, it's just my opinion. XD
Overall, the book is simply awesome. I will certainly reading the next book, especially because I have many questions in my head. And also because the ending left me with a huge cliffhanger. I'm really excited to read the next book. Hey, fantasy fans there you should read this awesome book! :D
*Thank you very much, J. Meyers for providing me a copy of this book. :)*
Gahd! Look at those awesome covers of Immortal Essence series. I haven't read Exiled, yet, but I'm planning to. I think you can read Exiled for free (click HERE!). I'm not sure if it's the whole book or just part of it. ^^ So, what can you say about their covers? :)
